REAL DIFFERENCE B/W LED AND LCD TV

In this topic, we understand what is the real difference between LED and LCD. Basically, both are the same to some extend. To know the actual difference between them we need to understand how LED and LCD display works.

LCD TV

The full form of LCD is Liquid Crystal Display. The main parts of LCD which help to see the picture on screen are the liquid crystal panel and backlight panel. The crystal panel is packed in a polarized layer contains RGB colors i.e Red, Green, Blue. And by mixing these colors any color can be made easily. When we power on the LCD the blacklight panel is become active and starts to throw light on the liquid crystal panel. The crystals inside the polarized layer start to illuminate the light and adjust the contrast, brightness, and sharpness of colors.

LED TV

The full form of LED is Light Emitting Diode. The main parts of LED which help to see the picture on the screen are the liquid crystal panel and backlight panel. When we turn on the LED backlight panel become active and start to throw light on the liquid crystal panel. The crystals inside the polarized layer start to illuminate the light and adjust the contrast, brightness, and sharpness of colors.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LCD TV AND LED TV:

In the LCD TVs, the backlight panel consists of CCFL i.e (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) which is very old technology and consumes a lot of electrical energy and heat fastly. Also, CCFL is bigger in size which increases the thickness of the LCD which is a very negative point in the terms of design and compatibility.

But in LED TVs the backlight panel consists of Light Emitting Diodes which are smaller in size and consumes less energy as compared to CCFL. The smaller size of diodes provides LED a significant thickness and make them slimmer than LCD. Although, LED releases less amount of heat than LED due to less power consumption nature of diodes. And LED produces more realistic colors than LCD because the light of diodes is brighter and efficient than CCFL light.

This is all about difference between the LCD and LED TVs. Have a nice Day!
